Commissioner Rebecca L. Pauli

Commissioner Rebecca Pauli is a life-long Alaskan. She is a 1989 graduate of the Seattle University School of Law. Upon graduation Commissioner Pauli returned to Alaska and obtained a position clerking for the superior court in Kenai. When her clerkship ended she took a position as an Assistant Municipal Attorney II for the Municipality of Anchorage. While at the Municipality of Anchorage Commissioner Pauli also served as special assistant to the General Manager, Municipal Light and Power. From 1995-2000, Commissioner Pauli was in private practice. Her practice focused on the representation of rural cooperatives and for-profit utilities. She was actively involved in the transition to a competitive marketplace under the Telecom Act of 1996. In 2000, Commissioner Pauli left private practice to become the Executive Director of the Nordic Skiing Association of Alaska. In 2002, she became a member of the administrative judiciary when she joined the Alaska Workers’ Compensation Board as a hearing officer. In 2007, she joined the Office of Administrative Hearings as an administrative law judge where she remained until her 2016 appointment to the Regulatory Commission of Alaska by Governor Bill Walker. Governor Walker’s appointment brings Commissioner Pauli’s career full circle, back to utilities. Commissioner Pauli lives in Anchorage with her husband of 24 years, Matthew, and their three dogs.
