Notice of Utility Application.
The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that Alaska
Energy and Resources Company (AERC), Avista Corporation (Avista), and Alaska Merger
Sub, Inc. (Merger Sub) filed a joint application on December 4, 2013, seeking authority
for Avista and Merger Sub to acquire AERC, the owner of Alaska Electric Light and Power
Company (AELP). AELP holds Certificate of Convenience and Necessity No. 1, authorizing
the provision of electric service in Juneau. Avista Corporation is a publicly traded
company organized under the laws of the State of Washington. Merger Sub is an Alaska
corporation and wholly-owned subsidiary of Avista. Docket U-13-197 was opened to
address this matter.
