To whom it may concern,

Every two to four years we hear our state politicians speaking about opening Alaska for business. This is one of the biggest transactions, in one of the biggest mature oil fields, in our state. It will be crucial for us as a state and a community to prove that we believe and support our private sector and need to look at this as an exciting opportunity. Hilcorp has been in Alaska since 2012. We have already seen what they could do in Cook Inlet and how they revitalized those fields. Hilcorp would not be spending over $5 billion dollars to continue managing the decline in production like BP has been doing for years. They have a history of purchasing mature fields utilizing technology, experience, and flexibility to safely increase production profitably. 
We have seen Chevron and Shell both leave the state and now its BPs turn. We should be excited that we have a company currently operating in Alaska, this excited about growing in our state. With almost 90% of their employees Alaska residents, they are building with Alaska. I am excited to see them succeed on the North Slope and put more oil in our extremely underutilized pipeline. Without resource development we have no economy (except federal spending) and almost all the states income comes down that pipeline. Let’s encourage Hilcorp and companies like them to invest their limited capital in Alaska and help them, help us.
