The Regulatory Commission of Alaska adopted regulations revising Article 3 in
Chapter 50 (Energy Conservation) in Title 3 of the Alaska Administrative Code (3
AAC 50.900 - 3AAC 50-949) to include interconnection requirements of net metering
customers for certain economically regulated electric utilities. The interconnection
regulations set forth rules regarding the requirements of liability insurance, an
external disconnect switch, application forms, and technical requirements for
interconnection. Net metering allows a consumer to reduce his or her load
requirement by interconnecting on-site generation facilities to electric utility facilities
The Lt. Governor signed the regulations, effective October 3, 2011. The revised
regulations will be published January 2012, in Register 200 of the Alaska
Administrative Code.
