Loss of Former Chairman Schröer:
The Regulatory Commission of Alaska (Commission) is saddened by the loss of
Don Schröer, a former Chairman of the Alaska Public Utilities Commission. Don
served as Chairman from January 1991 to August 1996. He served the
Commission until January 21, 1997. Commissioner Schröer joined the
Commission after more than 25 years of owning and operating his own business.
He was also a former member and chairman of the Alaska Real Estate
Commission (1971-1979) and a former member of the Anchorage Water and
Wastewater Advisory Commission (1989-1991). A veteran of the U.S. Marine
Corps, he and his wife, Lavonne, had six children and over 11 grandchildren. Our
condolences are extended to his family.
