2014 Alaska Universal Service Fund Surcharge -
NOTICE OF UTILITY TARIFF FILING
The Regulatory Commission of Alaska (Commission) gives notice of TA16-998, a tariff
revision filed by the Alaska Universal Service Administrative Company (AUSAC), the
entity selected by the Commission to administer the Alaska Universal Service Fund
(AUSF). AUSAC proposes a 2014 AUSF Surcharge Factor equaling 9.2% of customer
intrastate revenues for telecommunications carriers, effective January 1, 2014. This
represents a 0.1% decrease from the currently approved surcharge factor of 9.3%. The
surcharge is calculated to allow sufficient funding for the AUSF, including administrative
costs, Carrier of Last Resort support, Common Carrier Line support, support of local
exchange company switching equipment, state Lifeline support, and Public Interest Pay
Telephone support, and AUSAC’s operating budget for 2014.
