NOTICE OF CARRIER PETITION REGARDING PUBLIC INTEREST PAY TELEPHONES

The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that on September 26, 2014, Matanuska Telephone Association, Inc. (MTA) filed a petition requesting approval to transition all fourteen Public Interest Pay Telephones (PIPT) that it serves to coinless equipment. MTA notes that, if approved, the PIPTs would no longer accept coins in payment for completing any call, but that all local calls would be completed without charge and that credit cards would still be accepted for connecting any long distance toll calls. No changes to the annual Alaska Universal Service Fund support level previously approved by the Commission for any affected PIPT are requested. Docket U-14-109 has been opened to address this matt
