Chugach Electric Association, Inc. Announcement.

The Regulatory Commission of Alaska has been informed by Chugach Electric Association, Inc. of the following information:

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Temporary Closure of Chugach Electric Association, Inc.’s Customer Main Lobby

In recognition of the recent events surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, and as a precautionary measure for the safety of our employees, members and the community, Chugach Electric Association, Inc. (Chugach) is making several temporary changes to its business operations. The changes identified below are consistent with Emergency Order EO-01 issued by the Mayor of Anchorage on March 16, 2020.

Chugach will be closing its lobby to the public beginning 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, and extending through at least 5:00 p.m. on March 31, 2020. Chugach is vigilantly monitoring the situation and, based on CDC guidance and emergency orders, this closing schedule may be extended.

During this time, members will still be able to conduct business with Chugach via phone, email, and online using the       My Account portal, as well as make payments through the drop box located outside our main office building. I am also urging members who are struggling to pay their bill due to financial hardships caused from COVID-19 to contact our Member Services department to make payment arrangements. In recognition of the financial and personal hardships that this situation has caused, we are temporarily suspending service disconnects for non-payment and will not be assessing late payment fees. This applies equally to all retail members on the Chugach system, residential and commercial alike. We are notifying our members of the change in lobby accessibility through email, social media, our website and notices will be posted at the main entrance of Chugach’s headquarters building.

The safety and well-being of our employees, our members and the community are of paramount importance.

Sincerely,

Lee D. Thibert

Chief Executive Officer
