CONSUMER INPUT HEARING FOR ENSTAR CUSTOMERS AND ANY INTERESTED PERSONS

Anchorage, AK - The Regulatory Commission of Alaska (RCA) will receive comments
from ENSTAR customers and interested persons at a hearing on Docket U-08-25 on
Thursday,
August 14, 2008, at 6 p.m
., in the RCA’s East Hearing Room located at 701
West Eighth Avenue, Suite 300, Anchorage, Alaska, 99501.
In September 2007 the RCA ordered ENSTAR to notify nearly 11,000 small commercial
customers that they may qualify for a rate adjustment because some customers may
have been paying the commercial rate for strictly residential buildings. ENSTAR
received about 2,000 rate adjustment requests, and about half of those ratepayers
received refunds and credits. However, ENSTAR declined to provide refunds to
customers who requested the rate adjustment after the two-week notice period. In
December 2007, the RCA ordered ENSTAR to provide refunds to all customers who
transferred to the lower rate, including those whose requests were made after the end of
the two-week notice period. The RCA opened a formal docket in response to ENSTAR’s
petition for reconsideration of the RCA’s December letter order.
The consumer input hearing on August 14, 2008, precedes the one-day evidentiary
hearing scheduled for August 18, 2008. For further information about this docket, please
