RCA APPROVES AEL&P's LEVELIZED BILLING & DEFERRED PAYMENT
PROGRAMS
On May 21, 2008, the Regulatory Commission of Alaska (RCA) granted interim
approval to Alaska Electric Light & Power's (AEL&P) proposed tariff revisions
filed in TA363-1 on Friday, May 16, 2008.
AEL&P proposed to change its tariff to expand its deferred payments and
levelized billing programs to help AEL&P customers mitigate the impacts of
AEL&P’s Emergency Fuel Cost Rate Adjustment. AEL&P's deferred payment
program allows customers who demonstrate economic hardship to enter into an
agreement with the utility to make payments on delinquent bills, while continuing
to receive electric service. AEL&P's levelized billing program allows residential
and small commercial customers receiving service under all electric rate
schedules the option to enter into an agreement with the utility to make equal
payments of their estimated annual billing.
