RCA APPROVES TEMPORARY OPERATING AUTHORITY FOR
TDX TO PROVDE POWER TO ADAK COMMUNITY
Anchorage, AK - The Regulatory Commission of Alaska (RCA) released Order U-08-131(1) on
Friday, November 21, 2008. The order granted temporary operating authority to TDX Adak
Generating, LLC (TDX) effective December 1, 2008. TDX will assume all responsibility for
electric utility service on Adak. All customers formerly receiving electric utility service from
the
City of Adak (Adak Electric) will now be served by TDX.
In September 2008, the commission issued Order U-07-005(9) finding that good cause existed
to revoke
the certificate of Adak Electric after investigation of unreasonable management practices, lax
billing, unsafe and unreliable electric service. The commission held a public workshop on
October 20, 2008, for the purpose of finding a possible successor electric utility to replace Adak
Electric; and on November 6, 2008, Adak Electric and TDX filed a joint application for transfer of
certificate from Adak Electric to TDX.
TDX is an operating subsidiary of TDX Power. Other operating subsidiaries of TDX Power
provide electric utility service in Deadhorse and in Sandpoint. TDX maintains corporate offices
at
4300 B Street, Suite 402, Anchorage, Alaska, 99503; telephone number (907) 278-2312.
