RCA REQUESTS COMMENTS ON COMMISSION JURISDICTION OVER NATURAL GAS STORAGE PROJECTS

Anchorage, Alaska - The Regulatory Commission of Alaska (RCA) is requesting public comments be filed by January 8, 2010, regarding a petition for declaratory judgment on commission jurisdiction over natural gas storage projects.

On December 21, 2009, Cook Inlet Natural Gas Storage, LLC (CINGS) filed a petition for declaratory judgment regarding whether the RCA has jurisdiction over its proposed natural gas storage projects under AS 42.05 or AS 42.06.  The RCA opened Dockets U-09-124 and P-09-016 to consider CINGS request for declaratory judgment and for expedited consideration.  The RCA will make no determination on granting a declaratory judgment or expedited consideration until the comment period closes.   In Order U-09-124(1)/P-09-016(1), the Commission set out questions commenters might address.

Interested persons may comment on the CINGS filing and RCA jurisdiction over the proposed natural gas storage projects by submitting written comments to the RCA at 701 West Eighth Avenue, Suite 300, Anchorage, Alaska 99501, or via online at View Public Notices and Submit Comments.   Comments must be received no later than 4 p.m., January 8, 2010, and should reference Dockets U-09-124 and P-09-016.
