Hello, my name is Amy Ceder-Reinke.  I live in Anchorage, and I am writing to express my support for raising the statewide cap for net metering.  Like everyone else I know, I am worried about natural gas becoming more expensive and less available.  I also worry about climate change and the risks of our state relying too heavily on any one energy source.  Increasing the use of solar energy in private homes and businesses addresses all these concerns.  I know many of my neighbors who are interested in solar, but as someone with solar panels on the roof of my own home, I also know that the initial cost of solar is not small.  Raising the statewide cap for net metering is one of the things that can convince an individual that the long-term gains of solar power make the short-term cost worthwhile.  Every Alaskan who is allowed to generate their own power decreases energy costs and increases energy security for themselves and for their community.
